Thought Leader Gatherings


"A Community of Engagement for Leaders"™

Heartland, with partners Honeywell and Seagate Technology, convened the first Thought Leader Gathering (TLG) in 1998 for 40 Minnesota business and organizational pioneers with the belief that business and organizations are the conduit and delivery system through which a global renaissance is occurring.

Our vision: to fuel the evolution of leaders who choose to contribute to sustaining life (body, mind and spirit) in ourselves, our organizations, and our communities. Our belief: that leadership development is rooted in personal development & organizational transformation is rooted in individual transformation.

These member-based, bi-monthly morning 'conversations' bring together leaders in corporate, non-profit and independent organizations, who are devoted to combining visionary and 'on the ground' discourse ensuring both breakthrough ideas and direct action.

The Gatherings, averaging 50-70 participants at each meeting, are held in venues conducive to healthy human interaction. The format of each 4-hour session is designed to stimulate and reveal the collective wisdom of the group in an efficient, yet unhurried time frame.

Over 1600 people representing organizations of every size and stripe have attended over 160 gatherings in the Twin Cities and the California Bay Area.

Drawing on ancient and modern group processes and based on the Principles of Essential conversation, the sessions open with remarks from a 'conversation starter' (such as Meg Wheatley & Michael Ray) and close with a 'harvesting' session. An environment is created that allows for the possibilities and creativity present in each participant and the group to come alive.
