Social Responsibility to Global Responsibility:
Transforming the Way the World Does Business
with Deborah Nelson (view bio)
Executive Director, Social Venture Network
What do Ben & Jerry's, Clif Bars, Aveda, Body Shop, Birkenstock, Stonyfield Farms, Calvert Financial, Working Assets, World Wildlife Fund all have in common? They are all members of Social Venture Network.
As Executive Director of Social Venture Network, Deborah Nelson brings a big vision to an organization that began and nurtures the socially responsible business movement.
Social Venture Network inspires a community of business and social leaders to build a just economy and sustainable planet. Founded in 1987, SVN is a peer-to-peer network of nearly 500 CEOs, founders, nonprofit leaders, investors, and senior executives of some of the most socially and environmentally progressive companies in the world committed to social change, affecting not only the business sector, but society and government as well.
Over the past 22 years, the members of the Social Venture Network have led a sea change. From the organic revolution to fair trade to socially responsible investing and so much more, our members pioneered a movement that has proven that business can truly be used as a tool for making the world a better place.
SVN’s members are leaders of innovation, sustainability and economic justice, like Birkenstock, Ben and Jerry’s, Stonyfield Farms, Body Shop, Working Assets, New Voice of Business, Berrett-Koehler Publishers, Calvert Social Investment Fund, Eileen Fisher, Green for All, Joie de Vivre Hospitality, Ode Magazine, Tom's of Maine, Aveda, Clif Bars, Smith Barney, Heartland, to name a few.
