BIOGRAPHY It changed dramatically however when she was diagnosed with metastatic ovarian cancer in 1989. She began a year of aggressive physical treatments combined with deep, inner work of psyche and soul. Through many transformative experiences of consciousness shifting and reality expanding, she’s come to a deep certainty that innate healing ability exists universally in each of us, and that the purpose of serious illness may be to evoke our higher potential. Deeply grateful and cancer-free for fourteen years, Maureen founded Voices of Healing, a non-profit organization with Story Circles through which people “share the healing, hope and possibilities” within the challenges and opportunities of serious illness. She believes Voices of Healing can reduce the fear of cancer and improve its outcome just as AA created the potential of recovery for alcoholics. Her fervent hope is that one day Story Circles with their Healing Guidelines will become as common as 12 Step meetings are today. She is writing a book, "Terrible Gifts and Savage Grace" about her experiences and the healing process. ARTICLES/BOOKS WHAT GETS YOU UP IN THE MORNING? |
